DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PARADE, PRESENTED BY FORMAN MILLS

CELEBRATING 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY ON JANUARY 18, NOON

Join the City of Baltimore as it celebrates the revolutionary spirit of one of America’s most prominent advocates for racial justice and equality.  The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, presented by Forman Mills commemorates the courage, humility, and ultimate sacrifice of the historic civil rights activist. The parade, in its tenth year, honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and dedication to service by showcasing schools, organizations and community groups that strive to keep his timeless values alive. The event takes place Monday, January 18 at noon and steps off at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street, proceeds south on Martin Luther King Boulevard and disbands at Baltimore Street. Residents and visitors can see the best views of the festivities near the reviewing stand, located at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Franklin Street. The tenth annual parade is presented by Forman Mills, produced by Mayor Sheila Dixon, the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, and the Baltimore Community Relations Commission and sponsored by Cricket Wireless, UnitedHealthcare, Fox 45/ The CW Baltimore, The Afro-American Newspapers, The Baltimore Times and Radio One (92Q, Magic 95.9, Spirit 1400, WOLB 1010).

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade features high-stepping musical performances by high school marching bands and community bands, fraternal and social organizations, equestrian units, floats, and an assortment of other festive units.  Groups interested in participating in the 2010 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade can obtain an application online at www.promotionandarts.com.
