PORTS AMERICA NEW YEAR’S EVE SPECTACULAR On December 31, 2008
Bring in the New Year with family, friends and great entertainment at Ports America New Year’s Eve Spectacular. Mayor Sheila Dixon and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts announce one of the region’s largest New Year’s Eve celebration with live music at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater and a fantastic midnight fireworks show. On Wednesday, December 31 from 9pm-12:30am, visitors can celebrate the holiday festivities at Baltimore’s historic Inner Harbor. This year’s event is presented by Ports America, returning as a corporate sponsor. Additional support provided by Harborplace & The Gallery, and media sponsors WJZ-TV 13 and The Baltimore Examiner.
Guests can enjoy the music of rock and soul group, the All Mighty Senators at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater, located at Pratt and Light streets, starting at 9pm. The All Mighty Senators (AMS) are a Baltimore based quintet band that infuses diverse genres to create a true and original sound. AMS continues to delight crowds across the United States and Canada with their charismatic on-stage presence and vocals. At midnight, fireworks fill the air as Baltimore welcomes in 2009! Zambelli Fireworks Internationale produces the choreographed show, which is simulcast to a variety of today’s best hits. The event is free and takes place outdoors.
Returning to this year’s midnight fireworks show is the addition of a third barge. Visitors can view a grander show, as colorful fireworks illuminate the sky. The show will be choreographed to fun and festive music. Those in the Inner Harbor and the surrounding neighborhoods of Canton, Fells Point, and Locust Point can experience the wonderful fireworks show from the comfort of their homes, dining restaurants and area parks.
