THE BALTIMORE BOOK FESTIVAL ON SEPTEMBER 24, 25 & 26, 2010

THE LITERARY ARTS FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 15 YEARS

The Baltimore Book Festival returns for its 15th year celebration on September 24, 25 and 26, 2010.  The festival takes place in historic Mount Vernon Place centered on the 600 block of North Charles Street on Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25 from 12-8pm and Sunday, September 26 from 12-7pm. The mid-Atlantic’s premier celebration of the literary arts features local and celebrity authors, poetry readings, workshops, children’s activities, panel discussions, cookbook demonstrations, live music, exhibitors and book sellers.  The festival is produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts.

The Baltimore Book Festival celebrates written works with a weekend full of free literary fun.  The festival offers an assortment of engaging and innovative activities at the Literary Salon, Food for Thought Stage, Children’s Bookstore Stage, CityLit Stage, Radical Bookfair Pavilion, Creative Café, and Book Festival Music Stage.

Each stage and tent hosts dynamic and diverse programming. The Literary Salon features nationally-renowned authors and spirited panel discussions.  The Food for Thought Stage has distinguished chefs and cookbook authors.  Festival-goers can sample food from celebrity chefs’ demonstrations, as well as, pick up cooking tips and tasty recipes.  The Children’s Bookstore Stage is home to some of the nation’s best children and young adult’s writers and illustrators.  The CityLit Stage showcases local and regional authors, informative panel discussions, and insider tips for aspiring writers and publishers.  Returning for a third year is the Radical Bookfair Pavilion, which hosts prominent radical, independent, and DIY writers and publishers.  The Creative Café offers short story and poetry readings, writing workshops, poetry slams and panel discussions.  The Book Festival Music Stage has live entertainment          from regional singers and musicians during the weekend.  In addition, the food and beverages are available throughout the festival.
